On Saturday I spent the day celebrating with Ashley and Trey at their wonderfully whimsical wedding. From the rose covered pergola where they said their vows to one another, to the tea party atmosphere of their reception, every little detail was full of fun, color and creativity. It was Alice in Wonderland meets Tim Burton. It was light meets dark. It was sweet meets spooky. It was the perfect.
The day began in a flurry of activity. Friends and family worked together to get the decorations placed. Chairs were lined up and tables were set. Before long it was time for the bride and groom to start getting ready! Trey hung out on the porch of the groom’s cabin while his soon to be nephews played under the huge shady trees that fill the property of The Barn at Hawks Point. Ashley got ready with her mom and sisters in the bridal suite. From her gorgeous hair to her incredible blue shoes, Ashley was a stunning bride!
Ashley and Trey opted for a first look before their ceremony, so we headed out behind the barn for some privacy. As Ashley made her way out to where her groom awaited with help from her niece, family lined up on the back deck of the barn to watch from afar. Ashley and Trey’s first look was one of the the sweetest I have ever seen. Ashley dried Trey’s eyes and they took a few minutes to just be together and soak it all in.
What I love about Ashley and Trey is that they truly are best friends. You can immediately see how comfortable they are together after being with them for just seconds. It’s incredible.
Before the ceremony began, we took some photos of the bride and groom and their bridal party in front of the stunning red barn that borders the fence at The Barn at Hawks Point. I grew up in Anderson and went to high school right across the street from the venue, which was built long after I graduated. I remember driving past the barn every day on my way home from school and wondering about it’s history and wishing that it would be given another chance. Funny how things work out. It was the perfect backdrop for our photos!
Ashley and Trey’s bridal party was made up of best friends, sisters, cousins, a brother in law and even a nephew! How cool is that? There were so many different parts of their lives represented.
Finally it was time for the ceremony. Ashley’s parents walked her down the aisle where Trey awaited her. The light breeze blew the moss that hung from the pergola and the sun beamed brightly overhead. Ashley’s childhood pastor officiated the ceremony as guests looked on. After the vows and the rings were exchanged, Ashley and Trey were pronounced husband and wife!
Ashley and Trey had decorated the barn beautifully for their reception, perfect for a tea party! Guests enjoyed Johnny Carino’s for dinner and GiGi’s cupcakes for dessert. Ashley and Trey shared their first dance with one another as well as special dances with Ashey’s father and Trey’s mother. Trey’s best man gave an endearing speech and Ashley and Trey cut their adorable cake! The photo booth outside was a huge hit - complete with an appearance from Johnny Depp himself!
Finally, Ashley and Trey snuck away for some final photos before the rain set in. I am so glad that I was able to spend their special day with them and celebrate them as they became husband and wife! Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Watt!
P.S. Stay tuned for a blog post highlighting Ashley's bridal session later this week!
