From portraits of incredible couples next to raging waterfalls to riding carousels and everything in between - 2017 introduced me to some of the most incredible people and together we created some beautiful memories. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be able to celebrate each couple I work with and capture their love in ways that is special to them. To all of those couples who have let me love them, photograph them and even high five them - this is for you.
(Side note: Selecting only ten was one of the most challenging things I had ever done! Oh my goodness, you are all so wonderful!)
1.) Rachael + Seth
Why I love it: Rachael and Seth are the kind of couple that can find humor in anything. (Seriously their Facebook posts CRACK ME UP!) They are always taking turns making one another laugh so this moment is so special to me. You can almost feel their happiness.
2.) Erynn + Danny
Why I love it: Erynn, Danny and I are all members of the introvert club so we snuck out of their reception for some photos in the garden just before sunset. I held back while they walked and talked about the day so far when it struck me: this is Erynn and Danny. This is how they are all the time. Easy going, filled with interesting conversation and always.. always.. looking at each other like that. Man I love these two.
3.) Corinne + Nate
Why I love it: We huddled under the shelter house where just an hour earlier they’d said their vows. Rain poured down around us but there under that shelter house all was well. And as for Corinne and Nate.. well I don’t think they noticed that rain one bit. All that mattered in that moment was one another, exactly how it should be.
4.) Jennifer + Kyle
Why I love it: As a creative person I am always visualizing things in my head and thinking of ways to bring them to life. When Jennifer and Kyle first told me about their wedding “venue” just outside of Las Vegas my brain immediately set to work dreaming up an image that would capture a love as great as theirs. I saw this in my mind before we even boarded the plane out west. After their ceremony the four of us piled in the rental car and began searching for *the* spot. We had to hike a bit to get there, but Jennifer and Kyle proved that hiking through mountains in their wedding attire didn’t phase them one bit - how cool are they?
5. ) Ashley + Trey
Why I love it: From Ashley’s stunning dress to the way Trey is holding her so tight - this image makes my heart beat faster. But then those Toy Story clouds behind them just add that last pop of color to make this image so vibrant and fun. I love it!
6.) Alexis + Scott
Why I love it: The warm glow of the autumn sunshine beamed down from the trees. Fallen leaves crunched under Alexis’s burgundy bridal shoes and caught in the lace of the train of her dress. They’d been married for just a couple of hours and joy just radiated from them both. They kissed under those tall trees and this photo captures their happiness in so many ways. I’m still so thankful that I got to be apart of it.
7.) Travis + Michael
Why I love it: Michael told me about this church the first time we spoke on the phone. If there was any way to take photos infront of them on their wedding day, he’d love that. We had to wait for another wedding to finish up, but my goodness was it worth the wait. Travis and Michael quietly posing in front of those epic doors reflecting on their wedding day takes me right back to that moment there in front of the church. Love is a beautiful thing and this photo is such a wonderful reminder of that.
8.) Danna + Tyler
Why I love it: The first raindrops fell as Danna finished putting on her wedding dress. The storm clouds rolled in as we finished her bridal portraits. By the time their ceremony started, this once calm trickling waterfall had turned into raging rapids. But that didn’t phase Danna and Tyler. They fully embraced the storm and headed out into the rain - hand in hand. But that is who they are. No storm no matter how strong could ever put a damper on their wedding day. They take on everything with such positivity and I think that is so inspiring!
9.) Kirby + Steven
Why I love it: I feel like this photo tells a lot about Kirby and Steven. These two are so much fun and full of color and light. Truly, Kirby has pink hair these days and let me just tell you - she is ROCKING it! But in all seriousness, Kirby and Steven are fun couple who make it a priority to stop and enjoy the silly things in life so a wedding photo on a carousel is just too perfect for them.
10.) Callie + Brent
Why I love it: We only had the venue for fifteen more minutes. As we rushed through the rows of lush plant life in the conservatory I asked Callie and Brent to stop just for a second. A second is all it took. That is how quickly these two fall into a gaze like that. They're simply breathtaking!
