Receptions are always tons of fun. Cake? Check. Dancing? Check. All of your favorite people? Double check! Zach and I were lucky to dance through 2017 with some amazing couples, capturing joy, excitement, laughter and of course tons of love. Here are some of my personal favorite reception photos from 2017!
1.) Kirby Serenades Steven
Why I love it: Kirby let me in on this secret prior to the wedding and I was so excited! After Kirby and Steven had their entrance to their reception, Steven gave a welcome speech and handed the mic to Kirby, who was supposed to finish that speech. Instead she picked up her trusty ukulele and serenaded Steven ( and well.. all of us in that room, Kirby’s talent is incredible!) - it was awesome!
2.) Rachael’s Dance with Her Dad
Why I love it: This one got me you guys. It got me right in the feels. As they were dancing, Rachael gently rested her head on her dad’s shoulder as they swayed back and forth. Twinkle lights sparkled behind them as guests looked on. But for those few moments on the dance floor, you could really feel the love shared between this father daughter duo and it was magic.
3.) Brent + Callie’s Non Traditional Reception
Why I love it: Brent and Callie had an insanely gorgeous elopement at the Indianapolis Zoo followed by a super fun small dinner at The Punch Bowl Social. It was intimate and sweet, lively and exciting. They really figured out the secret recipe for the perfect small wedding. We snuck off to grab some shots at the infamous red Punch Bowl couch and I am so glad we did!
4.) Josh + Scott’s First Dance
Why I love it: Josh and Scott’s Avon Gardens wedding was absolutely beautiful. I honestly didn’t want to leave - and it was really cold that day so that is saying something for me - I’m always freezing and wear my full on winter coat starting in early October. But I tell you what, as these two handsome grooms enjoyed their first dance to a song by Jon McLaughlin under gorgeous chandeliers, no one was thinking about the chilly fall air. All eyes were on them and it was such a beautiful moment!
5.) Angie Breaking It Down
Why I love it: Angie is a blast and half! She is able to find the fun in anything she does and I just think the world of her! Angie’s joy for life filled the entire wedding and that dance floor was no exception. I don’t think she left the eye of the dance storm once all evening. Maybe it was those Kate Spade glitter Keds!
6.) MainStage Knows How to Party
Why I love it: Erynn and Danny’s wedding was full of guests from various parts of their lives, but a big portion of their guests were friends from MainStage Theatre! Ohhhh man do these guys know how to have fun! I caught this shot of these dapper dudes doing what they do best: having a blast!
7.) Wendy Dances with Her Dad
Why I love it: Before the wedding began, I was chatting with Wendy’s dad and he told me that they had gone to dance lessons prior to the wedding so that they would be fully prepared for their father daughter dance. And prepared they were! They both had a blast on that dance floor and everyone in the room absolutely cheered when they were through! How cool is that?
8.) Corinne’s Bouquet Toss
Why I love it: Corinne and I joked a lot through out my time working with her that we could read each others’ minds because we kept thinking of the same ideas at the exact same time. Maybe it was mind reading or maybe it was because I genuinely adore her! She is so full of life and joy and I feel that these two photos capture that so well!
9.) Travis + Michael’s Party Under the Stars
Why I love it: Travis and Michael planned one of the very best weddings I have ever been to. Not one detail fell through the cracks. Everything was gorgeous and the fact that it was in their very own back yard just made it that much better. But one of my favorite parts of their wedding was seeing how many people came out to cheer them on, love on them and dance the night away! Wow! Just wow! They are surrounded by some incredible people and it made my heart so happy to be apart of that.
10.) The Hanson’s Grand Exit
Why I love it: Sparkler exits are always amazing, but this one was extra special. It was the end of the night and Sam and Travis were surrounded by their very best friends and families. The night was warm and as the bride and groom made their way through the tunnel of sparklers, Travis dipped Samantha for one EPIC kiss while everyone cheered. Talk about a perfect send off!
