Brent called me on a Monday. I could hear the sounds of traffic as we spoke and could tell he was running errands of some kind. As our conversation went on, I learned that he was out and about in Indianapolis working to put together a beautiful wedding - to be held that Saturday. The careful planner in me hesitated for just a moment. But my heart whispered "why not?"
On that Friday I met with Callie and Brent in downtown Zionsville to take their engagement photos. While their wedding was planned in record time, it was still really great to be able to get to know them a bit before their wedding day. This helped me see how they interact as a couple and feel out what who they are together. I'll write about that in another post though.
I woke up the morning of their wedding and couldn't believe the amount of sunshine pouring in my bedroom window. Living in Indiana the weather is always a surprise it seems, but this was incredible! It ended up being almost 70 degrees, it was crazy! After we loaded up the car Zach and I headed to pick up Megan, my best friend and frequent second shooter. After a quick drive to Indy we arrived at Crowne Plaza Hotel where Callie would be getting ready. Once inside the room, we saw that Brent left a gift for Callie - a book with a personalized inscription, along with her bouquet, shoes and his ring. He had so very carefully placed everything for her to find. It was so obvious to me how much he cares for her, he wanted every moment of this day to be perfect.
Callie got ready along side Brent's mom and sister, who flew in from Texas for the celebration. We laughed and talked while Megan and I photographed the details. One of my favorite parts of the day was photographing Callie's engagement ring. Brent had it specially designed and there is a small cross just on the underside of the diamond, a testament to what is important in their lives.
After getting ready, a quick limo ride took us to White River Gardens where the wedding would take place. I visited the botanical garden with family a few months before and as I walked the paths surrounded by lush plant life, I couldn't help but think how it was the perfect space for a wedding! Months later, there we were. Their ceremony was held inside the Hilbert Conservatory which is just stunning! Close family and friends gathered around the center of the tropical, tranquil center of the conservatory as Brent and Callie said their vows. It was a sweet and sincere moment, followed by a dance party for all in attendance. It doesn't get much better than that!
Next we headed outside to take some photos of the happy couple. Between the backdrop of the city (one of the best views of the Indianapolis skyline if you ask me!) and the lovely landscaped paths of the DeHaan Tiergarten, White River Gardens seriously knocked it out of the park for photos. It couldn't be a prettier location if it tried. The staff went out of their way to make the day special for Callie and Brent and it just made everything that much better. I am so thankful to have such an incredible place in our city!
Finally our adventure took us to Punch Bowl Social, a new and super rad place in Indy serving the best poutine I've ever had and giant punch bowls meant for sharing. Plus everywhere you look is something fun. Bowling? They've got it. Ping pong? Yep. Arcade? Done. Corn Hole? Yep, that too. This place rules and it was the perfect spot to finish Callie and Brent's celebration. Brent and Callie's friends and family gathered around a tall table and shared appetizers and punch as well as lots of laughs. As I watched from my seat at the end of the table, I saw so much genuine love for those two. Brent's boss told jokes with his arm around the groom. Callie's best friend since childhood sat across from the bride while they talked and laughed. They are so loved and it was really awesome to be apart of that.
Congratulations to Callie and Brent!
