It’s always an honor to photograph the people I love. It’s hard to explain, but there’s just something special about being able to capture my favorite people and show them how I see them through my lens. Kacie’s senior portraits were no exception. You see, I have loved Kacie since the day she was born. Cheesy, I know. But it’s the truth.
I have counted down the days until Kacie was a senior, patiently waiting to take her senior portraits. So when the day finally arrived I was thrilled! We had planned for mid October hoping for vibrant, fall colors. Instead we were greeted by warm Indian summer rays. But that was okay with us.
We explored creeks and river beds, crossed bridges, fallen trees and piles of rocks - and let me tell you, we had a blast! If you’ve ever spent time with Kacie you know that her sense of humor is perfectly timed and I laughed with her and my Aunt Toni so much that day! Koteewi Park didn’t know what hit it!
For those of you that don't know, Kacie is my younger cousin and even though there is a decade between us, this girl was special to me from the start. I began babysitting Kacie and her older brother, Drew, when I was a teenager. We’d play for hours, read books, swing on the swing set, watch Blue's Clues on repeat and tour the neighborhood by way of their wagon when the weather was nice. It's crazy to me to think back on how long ago that was. Sometimes when I look at Kacie I still see that curly headed little girl asking me to make her chicken nuggets - a skill I still retain in case she ever want’s to stop by for dinner. After all these years, they are still her favorite!
I’ve watched Kacie grow up. From kicking the ball the wrong direction as a toddler to being fearless on the soccer field. From refusing to wear dresses to family Christmas as a child to looking absolutely elegant in her blue prom dress. Kacie is an amazing student, has an incredible work ethic, is a leader in her church and is absolutely hilarious! She is loving and kind hearted and I could not be more proud of the young woman she has become.
Plus - just look at how beautiful she is! This girl has it all!
Before we know it, Kacie will be headed off to college to start her newest adventure. I have no doubt that she will take her new school by storm: witty sense of humor, gorgeous brown eyes, serious soccer skills, big heart and all! And I just know that Kacie will be right at home at...
Indiana State University!
Kacie will soon join her parents and older brother in the family tradition of attending ISU! That's right, this girl right here will soon be a Sycamore herself and will leave her own unique mark on the very campus where her parents first met!
Congratulations, Kacie! Zach and I are so happy for you and Cannot wait to cheer you on as you start your next chapter in the fall. we love you!
